Hungarian-American actor and coloratura soprano, Réka Jónás is an alumna of New York University's Vocal Performance Program, where she earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Classical Voice and her Post Master's Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy- having been awarded a "Special Talent Scholarship" and the "Steinhardt Music Talent Scholarship". Upon her move to Manhattan, she was accepted into the studio of internationally acclaimed soprano, Rosa Vento and was quickly cast as La Fée in Massenet’s Cendrillon. After graduating with her Bachelor's degree as a "Founders' Day Honor Scholar", Réka was accepted into two prestigious graduate programs at the Manhattan School of Music and the Jacobs School of Music, however she chose to continue her training with Maestra Vento. Over the course of her studies at NYU, she performed such celebrated roles as Blanche de la Force in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites and Königin der Nacht in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.

During her two years as a dual-degree graduate student at NYU, she taught undergraduate voice lessons as part of the Adjunct Voice Faculty.

Réka is a two time Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions "Encouragement Award" winner and the 2019 Walter Reinhold Scholar of New York University's School of Music, a distinction awarded annually to one student from the entire music department.

The fall after graduation she was invited to join the company of the Hungarian State Opera, where she was asked to sing the Soprano Solo in Carmina Burana, the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute for Children, and Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann over the course of the company's 2020/21 season. Unfortunately, due to the global pandemic, two of the three productions she was asked to perform in were cancelled. Réka made her Hungarian State Opera debut as Olympia in December of 2021.

In the Spring of 2022 Réka was admitted to the Doctor of Musical Arts track in Vocal Performance at the Frost School of Music and the Master of Arts track in Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. She decided to pursue the theatre degree on a talent scholarship, and moved to London to train and collaborate with artists such as Daniel Bowling, Claude-Michel Schönberg, Todd Susman and Martin Lowe. She was cast as Julie Jordan in the academy's end of year production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel. She graduated with Distinction, in 2023.

Réka was last seen originating and playing the role of Clarice in the world premiere of The Fabulist at the Charing Cross Theatre in London, directed by John Walton.

She can be seen on the BBC Two and BBC iPlayer playing the role of Aloysia Weber in Mozart: The Rise of a Genius.

Réka was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by the magic of theater. Shakespeare, Tolstoy and poetry play significant roles in her life, yet Andersen's words seem to accompany her wherever she goes, for she truly believes, "Where words fail, music speaks." She spends her free time reading, hiking with her poodle, cooking and baking- as it gathers all her loved ones around the table- and horse-back riding.
